Abstract

This study evaluated the effects of organic and inorganic nutrient combinations on the growth, yield attributes, and economics of broad bean (Vicia faba L.) cv. Pusa Sumeet. A field experiment was conducted at the Agricultural Research Farm of Horticulture, Raja Balwant Singh College, Bichpuri, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, during the Rabi season of 2024–25. Ten combinations of recommended dose of fertiliser (RDF), farmyard manure (FYM), and vermicompost were evaluated in a randomised block design with three replications. Growth and yield observations were recorded at the specified crop stages. Treatment T8 (75% RDF + 12.5% FYM + 12.5% vermicompost) produced the highest plant height at 90 DAS (73.52 cm), plant spread (40.70 cm), main-stem diameter (11.27 mm), shoots per plant (9.40), nodules per plant at 45 DAS (64.88), mature-pod weight per plant (155.50), and seeds per pod (4.33). In contrast, T9 (25% RDF + 37.5% FYM + 37.5% vermicompost) recorded the highest dry weights of 100 g chopped leaves (22.20 g) and stems (30.23 g). The economic table showed that T8 achieved the highest yield (17,508 kg ha⁻¹) and gross income (₹315,160 ha⁻¹). Under the conditions of this experiment, T8 provided the most favourable overall combination of growth, yield performance, and economic return among the evaluated nutrient treatments.
